The hydrogen-fuelled taxis in Copenhagen will be lengthened to 500 by the end of 2025 under a new tie up between local taxi service DRIVR, green hydrogen specialist Everfuel A/S (FRA:0HR) and Japanese carmaker Toyota Motor Corp (TYO:7203).

Recently, more than 100 Toyota Mirai hydrogen cars are being driven in Denmark’s capital city as taxis ran by DRIVR. Their number is set to exceed 200 by the end of 2022 and reach 500 by end-2025, Everfuel said on Thursday. This will be made possible under a 5-year collaboration agreement expected at contributing to the decarbonisation of Copenhagen.

Everfuel will be the only hydrogen supplier to the fuel-cell cars. The company is now working to put more refuelling stations in the Greater Copenhagen area to serve the contract. Only locally produced hydrogen will be available across the infrastructure.

“With the agreement in hand, we are now prepared to meet the growing demand for fossil-free taxis among our customers, and we are proud to assist in the green transition within mobility,” stated Haydar Shaiwandi, CEO at DRIVR.

Toyota, Everful and DRIVR will also plan to increase their green transportation initiative outside Denmark.
