admin Fli Charge Technology declared that it was acquired by a subsidiary of Birch Lake Associates. As part of the purchase, industry veteran Khalid Zitouni is serving as CEO as the company seeks to expand its reach for Fli Charge’s intelligent power delivery technology.
TechCrunch first spied Fli Charge at CES 2018 when the company demonstrated its technology with Craftsman power tools. Once the Fli Charge device has been positioned on the strip, charging begins immediately at the same speed as when it was connected to a socket. Four small conductive projections come into contact with the pad and supply energy when needed. The system is able to charge batteries of different voltages simultaneously. A strip can charge at the same time smartphone, power tool and laptop even if each device has different power requirements.
“FLI Charge technology is a clear outlier in the supply and recharge space,” stated FLI Charge incoming CEO, Khalid Zitouni. “Although it resembles wireless charging solutions currently on the market, it is not constrained by the limitations that have held back these technologies from obtaining significant market adoption or expansion into new product categories. We are excited to rapidly expand our consumer product offerings and continue to develop a solid licensing platform for all portable products including power tools, IOT devices, drones, audio products and small appliances, among others “.
Zitouni is replacing the former Fli Charge CEO, Cliff Weinstein, who remains as a business consultant. In 2016, Weinstein led a managerial buyout to complete Fli Charge and eventually premiered an early version of the product on Indiegogo in 2017.
The implementation of Fli Charge in wireless energy supply is impressive and adopted by the market, it could lead to a truly wireless future.
