Real-Time Treasury Management Powered by Blockchain
Deutsche Bank has announced a strategic partnership with Ant International aimed at developing new treasury management and cross-border payment solutions for businesses operating across Europe and Asia. Central to the collaboration is the integration of Ant International’s blockchain-powered real-time treasury management platform, which will enable instant fund transfers between Ant International’s intragroup entities. Both companies highlight that this system will significantly enhance efficiency and transparency in Ant’s global treasury operations.
The real-time capabilities are expected to streamline liquidity management and reduce operational friction, allowing Ant International to optimise its internal cash flows across multiple markets. This move reflects a broader trend among multinational corporations seeking more agile and automated treasury infrastructures, particularly as global trade becomes increasingly interconnected.
Cross-Border Payment Innovation and FX Risk Reduction
Beyond treasury operations, the two companies plan to jointly explore innovations in cross-border payments, targeting cost reductions and improved risk management for foreign exchange transactions. This initiative will leverage emerging financial technologies, including tokenised bank deposits, Ant International’s proprietary Falcon TST FX model, and the use of stablecoins for international payments, reserve management, and treasury functions.
Deutsche Bank will also extend its collaboration to Ant International’s subsidiaries, Antom and WorldFirst. Through Antom, the partnership aims to expand acquiring solutions for merchants in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). Meanwhile, the work with WorldFirst will support its e-commerce and cross-border trade platforms, covering services such as account collections, payments, and foreign exchange offerings.
The collaboration represents a significant step in the evolution of global treasury and payment solutions, combining Deutsche Bank’s extensive financial expertise with Ant International’s cutting-edge fintech capabilities. As businesses increasingly demand faster, more transparent, and cost-effective solutions for international financial operations, such partnerships signal the growing role of blockchain and tokenisation in the future of cross-border finance.
