In the mosaic of Dr. Gechlik’s successful career, the start of SINOTALKS has come up as a natural evolution in the year 2021. When Dr. Gechlik was asked about her journey to this platform, she said that it was completely new to her to start working for SINOTALKS even though she was originally a professor who taught China law and business at Stanford Law School.
Recalling her initial days at the company, she told us how she got an opportunity to have her own newsletter through LinkedIn and therefore she promptly launched SINOTALKS without a second thought. The newsletter had this description: “demystifies China law, policy, and business to help you craft evidence-based strategies for your China-related issues.” She said she got a lot of attention due to this newsletter as it was so valuable.
Today, there are around 5,000 subscribers and many of them are now judges and policy makers in assorted countries.

“In less than two years, the website of SINOTALKS® (i.e., sinotalks.com) has attracted more than 100,000 users from nearly 160 countries. Most users are based in India, China, the United States, Pakistan, Nigeria, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, Kenya, and the Netherlands. Apparently, readers value our bilingual publications. In addition to my own newsletter mentioned above, two other publications stand out,” said Dr. Gechlik when asked about the company’s recent progress.
She also expressed how SinoExpress, a monthly newsletter delivered significant updates about the China law, policy and business and has more than 1,400 subscribers and alongside that she also has SinoForum&Foresight which also had articles which were written by various authors globally. Due to these significant achievements, Mei was honored with The Women Leaders Magazine as one of the “20 Most Inspiring Women Leaders 2022” and was also invited to have a speaking tour in China in June 2023.
“Solving clients’ problems is important but is a rather passive approach. A more proactive approach is to play a leadership role to help shape the future of the global business landscape, in the hope of creating a better environment for our clients’ long-term success,” quoted Mei.
She also mentions how she feels appreciated when she serves as a member of the U.S. based National Small Business Association Leadership Council as well as an advisor to a Nigeria based organisation which is dedicated to training budding entrepreneurs in Africa.

Dr. Gechlik says she believes that having an audience globally is very important to any company. She also has expressed that she is extremely thrilled to announce that she wrote two new important articles which were just published in The Rio Times which is considered as one of the most influential English newspapers in Latin America.
Mei believes that there are two major responsibilities of an entrepreneur:
V and S, V being updating Vision regularly, where one must always stay educated by reading; and S being conducting Self critiques honestly, where one should examine their strengths thoroughly.
“The acronym “VS” from the words Vision and Self-critiques stands for “versus”, meaning “against”. To be fully prepared for your competition with others, work against yourself first. Constantly challenge your own ideas and actions so that you are fearless when others criticize you and/or your work,” says Mei.
