The Urmila Project
Remaining well ahead of the curve its time, the ABC Dubash Group wanted to fulfil the existing lacuna in the heavy-lift service sector of the country. This inspired the Group to start one of the most remarkable project logistics services brands of all time- Urmila. Commencing in 1976, this project division was created to extend specialised services in the heavy-lift transport and project cargo sector.
As a first-of-its-kind project, Urmila was responsible for pioneering several milestones in the logistics industry. To help build the infrastructure needed for such project transports, under the Urmila brand, the company imported Goldhofer hydraulic axles and SPMT’s from Germany as a first. This coupled with a large fleet of ancillary equipments to facilitate break bulk and project cargo. Company owns and operates several barges, pontoons to augment offshore and multimodal requirements of the industry.

Turnkey Projects– the ABC Dubash Group undertakes multimodal turnkey projects of scale. From shipping, customs clearance, and port handling to inland transportation and unloading tasks (RO-RO and LO-LO), with its in-house expertise and dedicated team of professionals, every aspect of such turnkey projects is taken care with aplomb.
Multimodal Transport– Over 2 decades back, with the IFFCO Anola project, the company established the navigability of the Calcutta Allahabad waterway via barges. Today, the company continues to provide clients with various multimodal transportation options as heavy equipment and loads which cannot be transported.
Dredging-The ABC Dubash Group specialises in dredging and has completed several notable projects across the country. Some of the most well-known dredging projects handled by the company include work for the Indian Navy at Kochi (Kerala), dredging for the Kolaghat Thermal Power Station (West Bengal), and the Dhuvaran Thermal Power Station (Gujarat). The excellence continues with projects all over India.
Bulk Cargo Handling- The ABC Dubash Group has handled bulk cargo deliveries in several states across India. In 1998, the company was responsible for the transport of iron ore from Revdanda, Maharashtra, while in 2001, it started handling Birla Group’s Hindalco Birla Copper material handling project in Dahej. and is currently handling bulk cargo transport for Reliance Industries at Jamnagar. Over the last few years, the company has transported many million tons of bulk cargo.
Lighterage Operations– The ABC Dubash Group also provides specialised bulk containers for the transport of chemicals, oil, and petroleum. The company owns India’s first-of-its-kind ammonia transportation barges that effectively transport liquefied ammonia and other chemicals.
