In an impressive demonstration of its commitment to global tourism, Malaysia is marking its 14th consecutive appearance at the International Travel & Hospitality Show (MITT) 2024. This significant event, taking place from 19 to 21 March at the Crocus Expo Exhibition Centre, draws participation from over 768 companies spanning 30 countries. The three-day gathering is a pivotal opportunity for industry leaders and stakeholders to forge vital connections and partnerships, setting the stage for future collaborations.

Leading the Malaysian delegation is the Senior Director of International Promotion (Americas, Europe & Oceania) at Tourism Malaysia, Mr. Iskandar Mirza Mohd Yusof. The team comprises a diverse mix of tour operators, destination management companies (DMCs), and a distinguished hotel representative. Notable participants include Lexis Hotel Group, Embassy Alliance Travel Group, ITM Group, Fun and Sun Holidays, China Travel, PAKS Group, and Russian Express, all of which are congregated at the Tourism Malaysia booth in Pavilion 1, Hall 3, Stand B308. This platform offers attendees a glimpse into Malaysia’s rich cultural and natural heritage, tailored specifically for the Russian market.

Bolstering Malaysia-Russia Tourism Ties

Mr. Iskandar Mirza’s enthusiasm for the event underscores its importance: “MITT 2024 is fundamental in positioning Malaysia as a top tourist destination in Russia, facilitating crucial industry exchanges and fostering long-term relationships. We’re excited to showcase Malaysia’s captivating attractions, reinforcing its appeal in preparation for Visit Malaysia 2026.” This initiative follows the successful showcase at the Moscow Dive Show 2024, highlighting Malaysia’s prime dive sites and continuing efforts to engage Russian tourists through strategic industry participation, collaborations with media and travel operators, and comprehensive online marketing campaigns.

Malaysia’s tourism sector is poised for significant growth, with a target of attracting 27.3 million tourists by 2024 and generating estimated revenues of MYR102.7 billion. Tourist arrivals from Russia are expected to surge by 30% in 2024, a continuation of the growth trajectory from 33,033 visitors in 2022 to 109,689 in 2023. As Malaysia gears up for Visit Malaysia Year 2026, the ambition is to welcome 35.6 million international tourists, aiming for tourism receipts of MYR147.1 billion. This endeavour not only highlights Malaysia’s rich tourism potential but also strengthens the cultural and economic ties between Malaysia and Russia, fostering a mutual appreciation and understanding through travel and exploration.
