In just the first match after quarantine, the New Zealand cricketer Devine managed to make history as she slammed 100 runs off a mere 36 balls. This is quite a remarkable feat.
In T20’s both men and women, this record has been set by Chris Gayle for his century off 30 balls. Therefore, this record by Divine is an achievement over formats.
After having played so well, when asked about her performance, Divine said that before the game she was really nervous given the fact that she had not been in the field and played since such a long period of time. She was happy with her performance and said that it was nice to get a few out of the screws.
She also went on to say that today’s game was more about playing smart and trying to manipulate the field while also not taking a lot of risks. She said after a few balls, she understood the technique and made her play accordingly and opened up on certain areas that helped her secure a good number of runs.
This time, she said that she wanted to play decently as she felt that she could play rash some times and get eager and carrier away on the field which could prove detrimental to the game and her team. She wanted to finish the job today and bring home the victory for her team.
During one of the marvelous sixes of the skipper, a young girl had gotten hurt, so as soon as the match was over the first thing that she did was check the welfare of the young girl who as is being reported is luckily unhurt from the incident.
The official handle of the team also went on to congratulate the skipper on her wonderful innings and called it all class.
The earlier record for the fastest century was made more than a decade ago for a century off 38 balls by the West Indies cricketer Deandra Dottin in the year 2010.
Devine in this remarkable innings scored a total of nine sixes and seven fours.
