Manchester City made a Hattrick of Carabao Cup as it beat Aston Villa in the Finals on Sunday

Wembley on Sunday saw Manchester City beat Aston Villa by 2-1 in the Finals of Carabao Cup to win the trophy for the third straight time.

The champions account was opened by Sergio Aguero in the 20th minute. Soon enough, Rodri doubled the lead which was headed from a controversial corner.

Tanzania’s Mbwana Samatta, the striker for Villa’s, scored at half-time. Bjorn Engels, who is from Belgium, tried his best to take the game to extra time. He headed a shot towards the goal post but was saved Claudio Bravo, City Goalkeeper, just a few minutes before the final whistle.

City has already qualified for the fifth round of FA Cup and is leading 2-1 against Real Madrid on the aggregate in the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League.

Pep Guardiola, considered to be the world’s best manager by many, made replacements in the lineup after a draining victory in Madrid and the new players soon recompensated for the selections.

“Three times in a row is a big success. It’s the consistency, incredible,” said Guardiola after the win.

He has also been the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager.

He added, “It was awesome. We struggled in the first minutes and the last ones. They had two clear chances in the first minutes but we played really well, especially in the second half.

“The game was good. Phil (Foden) was clinical. Big success, our second title of the season with the Community Shield, it’s so nice.

“We’ve won a lot. I tried when we arrive, every game we play we try to win it, every competition we try to win it, and three times in a row, being here and winning is great.” Liverpool is the only other team to win three consecutive League Cup titles. It won between 1980-81 and 1983-84. City won in 2018, 2019 and 2020 to be the second club doing so.
