Argentina stormed into their 6th World Cup final by defeating Croatia in the first semi-final of the FIFA World Cup 2022 by a 3-0 score on Wednesday. Leonel Messi of Argentina scored a goal and produced a brilliant assist against Croatia at Lusail Stadium. Also, Julian Alvarez hit two goals for the two-time championship against the rival team at the stadium.
Croatia had no chance of a comeback as Argentina did not allow them after going 2-0 up at the halftime break. Messi changed the scenario of the tournament with a goal from the spot in the 34th minute. Later on, Alvarez doubled the goal in the next 5 minutes with a mesmerizing solo goal in the 39th minute. The game was totally in Argentina’s favor when Alvarez made it 3-0 for his team in the 69th minute after Messi brought out his vintage self to create the chance.
During the match, all fans were hoping for captain Messi on his 5th bid to win but Alvarez stole the show by earning a penalty and scoring once in each half including after a scintillating 50m run. The pair together played perfectly in the 69th minute for Alvarez to hit his 2nd goal following a fantastic Messi drive by the byline and perfect cutback to make sure of Argentina’s debut in the 6th World Cup finals.
Alvarez nicknamed “the spider” after delivering the pickup pass from Messi in his half, ran 50 meters and made his way into the Croatia box by goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic, a big thanks to some clumsy defending and the fortunate bounces before slotting in the 2nd goal. On Sunday, Argentina will face either France, the defending champions, or may be Morocco, the first Arab country in the semi-finals of the World Cup, who play each other on Wednesday. Now, after this stunning match, fans are eagerly waiting for the next tournament.
