The health secretary announced that help is on the way and United Kingdom is all set to roll out the vaccines across the entire country from next week. The data of Pfizer shows that it is 95% effective across all age spectrums and at the same time had no serious health concerns being raised throughout the trials. This paved way for emergency authorization of the same.
The vaccine has been manufactured by the U.S giant Pfizer alongside the German partner BioNTech.
What such a drastic announcement means is that the United Kingdom has zoomed past both the United States and The European Union to allow the use. For now, U.K has ordered 40 million doses of the vaccines which will vaccinate 20 million people as this is a double dose vaccination.
The U.K plans to order more as the manufacturing will also be ramped up by Pfizer. The majority of the vaccination will however be available to the general public by early next year. To begin with, all elderly people, vulnerable and the healthcare workers will be the topmost priority to receive this vaccination.
The health department which has approved the vaccination has said that months of rigorous clinical trials have been conducted to ensure that this vaccine was safe to use and produced the desired effects.
The U.K Prime Minister Boris Johnson has also hailed this news and called it as fantastic as he holds the belief that it is only via the vaccines that protection can be achieved and at the same time people can start living their lives again and the economy will also start moving.
This vaccine has already been submitted to the U.S FDA and the EU’s European Medicine Agency an is now waiting for approval from them to start rolling out across the United States and the entire European Union.
