Taste Atlas, the experiential food guide renowned for ranking foods based on global preferences, has announced its 2024/25 World Food Awards. These rankings not only celebrate the diversity and flavor of Indian cuisine but also affirm its enduring popularity worldwide.

Indian Dishes Among the World’s Best

Ranked as the 12th best cuisine globally, Indian food continues to captivate taste buds with its rich flavors and variety. Taste Atlas’ “100 Best Dishes in the World” list for 2024/25 features multiple Indian dishes, with Murgh Makhani (Butter Chicken) and Hyderabadi Biryani earning top honors. Murgh Makhani secured the 29th spot, while Hyderabadi Biryani closely followed at 31, both receiving a stellar 4.52 out of 5-star rating from food lovers worldwide.

Another popular Indian dish, Chicken 65, claimed the 97th position with a 4.44-star rating. Known for its spicy and tangy flavors, this dish showcases the depth of Indian culinary creativity. Alongside these, Keema, a flavorful minced meat dish, also garnered praise with a similar rating, further emphasising the global appeal of Indian cuisine.

Colombian Lechona Takes the Top Spot

While Indian dishes performed exceptionally well, the coveted first place on the Taste Atlas list was secured by Lechona, a traditional Colombian dish. Known for its crispy pork skin and flavorful stuffing, Lechona celebrates Colombia’s rich culinary heritage and topped the list with widespread acclaim.

These rankings highlight the growing appreciation for diverse cuisines and affirm that Indian food, often celebrated for its intricate use of spices and bold flavors, continues to be a favorite across continents. With dishes like Murgh Makhani and Hyderabadi Biryani receiving global recognition, Indian cuisine’s presence on the world stage remains as vibrant as ever.
