Chris Rock is all set to go live on Netflix. Until now no comedian has gone live before on Netflix. He is the first who will be going to perform on the company’s first-ever live event streaming globally. Netflix vice president of comedy formats and stand-ups, Robbie Praw aforesaid in a statement, ”Chris Rock is one of the iconic and popular comedic voices of our generation. We are thrilled, it will be a historic moment for Netflix that the entire world will be going to experience the live Chris Rock comedy event for the first time.”
Chris previously collaborated with Netflix on the comedy special ”Tamborine” in February 2018. He also did an appearance in the streamer’s “Netflix Is a Joke” comedy fest in 2022. More than 300 comedians performed 295 shows across more than 35 venues including the first-ever show performed at Dodger Stadium.
More than 260,000 tickets were sold for the show. Chris won 4 Emmys for his comedy at The Saturday Night Live alum and two for his iconic 1996 special “Bring the Pain”. He was also featured in films ranging from Madagascar to Spiral story from the book named Book of Saw. Rock stands 5th in the list of 100 greatest stand-up comedians of all time.
This will be the first significant test of live streaming on Netflix potentially opening the door for other programs to get the live streaming treatment. This will be an honorable and unforgettable moment where Chris performs live on Netflix. The show will be going to stream in early 2023 as Rock has been on the Ego Death World Tour and has a series of comedy shows scheduled on tour dates for venues in California in December with pal and fellow comic Dave Chappelle.
