The British Academy Film Awards 2020, was not at all surprising. Yet, Joaquin gave a speech against racism, when he won the awards for best actor for the movie Joker and it became the highlight of the award function.
People tweeted about this speech at large and appreciated the step taken by the Joker fame actor.
Alma Har’el, who directed 2019 film Honey Boy also had something to say about the speech so she posted a tweet: “Correct me if I’m wrong but this is the first time… In a long time… I see a white man uses the stage he’s given to say what we all need to hear.”
Sir Sam Mendes’s had no space left in his car while going home as his film got the awards for best film, best British film, best director and best cinematographer.
Joker got three awards in its bucket which includes the best actor for Joaquin Phoenix, best casting and original score.
On the same lines, Renee Zellweger won the award for the best actress for her portrayal of Judy Garland.
Parasite, the South Korean film, has been regularly winning awards including the Eddie award for Editing and didn’t disappoint at the Bafta awards either. It won the awards for the best film not in the English language and the best original screenplay.
Klaus won the award for the Best Animated Film while For Sama won the award for the best documentary. The novel based movie, Little Women, took home the award for the best costume design.
