The luxury car, Porsche gets a new technological update with Hankook’s high-performance tire, the Ventus S1 evo3. It is set to be used as original equipment on the Porsche 718 Boxster and Cayman.
Porsche’s Hankook Addition
Hankook says the tires are tailor-made for the vehicles and come in size 235/40 ZR19 (92Y) for the front axle and 265/40 ZR19 (98Y) for the rear. The supply is in addition to the Porsche Cayenne and Taycan models for which Hankook already provides tires.
Jeongho Park, Executive Vice President and Director of OE division at Hankook stated, “Porsche stands for particularly high-performance sports cars, delivering a high level of driving pleasure and, at the same time, full suitability for everyday use. However, this also makes tire development very complex.”He further added, “We are therefore very pleased with this original equipment, as it demonstrates the impressive performance of our products across the entire range.”
Features to Lookout For
The South Korean tire manufacturer says that the Ventus S1 evo3 features a high-strength bead core and a reinforced sidewall to provide a high level of driving stability, straight-line stability, dynamic handling and steering precision. To further enhance the driveability of the vehicle, a lighter rayon carcass has been used alongside an aramid composite in the belt area to reduce unwanted expansion of the rolling circumference of the tire by up to 60%. A specially designed tread compound produced using high-performance natural resins ensures a high level of grip, traction and braking performance in all-weather situations.
“Our engineers aimed to ensure that the Ventus S1 evo3 would outperform its predecessor in almost all areas and become the most successful original equipment tread for Hankook on the market to date,” explained Moonhwa Hong, Vice President of the OE development department at Hankook. “The result of their work is an ultra-high-performance tire that can provide optimum support for the excellent dynamics of sports cars such as the Porsche 718 Boxster.” “Sports cars with a mid-engine are always something special. That’s why the special driving experience of the Porsche 718 Boxster played a big role in the test drives,” affirmed AleixAlcaraz, development driver at Hankook Tire, sports car division.
