Sri Lanka is Now Open for Tourists after a Span of 10 Months

As the world is shifting back to normal, travel between countries is once again opening up. Travel was the sector worst-hit by this pandemic as it was the first to shut down,

Now almost all countries are reviving their tourism but in a phased manner to ensure the safety of all its residents as well as the people who are travelling over borders.

Safe bubbles are being created where there are mandatory protocols to be followed, breach of which will lead to the travel being cancelled.

The Sri Lankan government took the step of opening up its territory for tourists after 10 months and that too with several restrictions. To ensure that there is absolutely no risk, for now the tourists are only allowed to stay at the most high-end of resorts and only a select few beaches have been opened.

With the pandemic still going on, this has been done to give respite to the tourism sector. Mixing up with the people of the local community will be kept at a minimum.

Visitors will not have to go through the quarantine periods as such but before travelling some tests will be done which will have to be certified before the traveler is allowed to roam freely. In the month of December as well, a few tourists from Ukraine were allowed in the country but they were restricted to a single island in order to ensure safety.

Sri Lanka has not begun its vaccination program as yet but it is expected that it will start to inoculate its population soon. It is hoped that once the vaccination process formally starts then the restrictions that are being imposed as of now will also be removed. ‘

The tourism will then be allowed to flourish completely without any barriers. Throughout the world, this norm of opening up slow and steadily is being followed. While some countries are allowing travel only within certain air bubbles the others are planning to open up completely in order to sustain themselves and to stabilize the economy.
