U.S Recommits to International Health, WHO Chief Calls it a Good Day for Global Health

With a change in power in the United States, the first business order for the Biden administration included recommitting to the global health scenario. This move of the United States was accepted wholly and appraised by the WHO chief Tedros Ghebreyesus , who said that it was a good day for global health.

He also said that this move is welcomed as the role that the States has to play in the global health scene is tremendous. He said that WHO looks forward to working with the Joe Biden and Kamala Harris administration and to tackle this pandemic and bring it under control.

WHO feels that every nation at this point of time must work together if they are to succeed. The contribution of each member state is extremely crucial and with the help of everyone, they move one step closer to defeating this pandemic.

U.S will also be a part of the program launched by WHO to provide vaccinations to those nations that require it the most, that is, they will help in ensuring that the vaccine distribution is equitable and everyone benefits from it.

Fauci who is a leading health expert in the Biden cabinet also exclaimed that the financial help that was earlier stopped will now again be re-continued and they plan on fulfilling all of their financial obligations.

U.S will play a major role in reforming the health strategy of WHO and will now be working closely to tackle this pandemic effectively throughout the world.

The Trump administration was largely criticized for its health policy. Reversely, Trump also did not believe in the policies of WHO and therefore renounced any form of help, material or non-material. He even went on to accuse that the policies were biased and that WHO was acting as a puppet of China.

It is expected that with the coming of a new administration, the strained relationship between the superpower and WHO will now be improved. Within just hours of the oath-taking, steps in this direction have already been taken.
