The British Fashion Awards due next week have decided to lead by example and in an astonishing news have announced that all the winners of this show shall receive trophies made out of recycled plastic.
These awards are a glamourous ceremony but due to the pandemic this year, the usual mode of the show has been dumped and a digital format will be seen this year. Although. London will come out of the lockdown on the 2nd of December, it was a unanimous decision to host the show online.
The winners shall be released using a short film which will document the entire fashion industry in a different light and how it has coped up with this pandemic and also come up with the most innovative things.
This year however, the mode of conduction is not the only thing to have changed, the BFC has partnered with Parley’s for the Ocean in order to create a trophy like never before. The use of 3D printing specialists Nagami has also been made in the execution of this historic plan.
This trophy will represent the commitment that BFC and Parley’s has to encourage a change in the positive direction in the whole of fashion industry. They want to bring in an era of responsiveness where there shall be more awareness and transparency with regards to the environment.
The trophy symbolises creative collaboration and eco-innovation, both of which are exceedingly important given the current situation that the world is in.
The BFC Chair Stephanie Phair also remarked that this year has been like no other, the fashion industry has probably undergone changes that shall remain forever. All businesses and designers have had to adapt to a new scenario and what is called a new normal. She feels that to provide a sense of recognition to all those who played a significant role in this extraordinary year is very important as it is because of these people that the fashion industry remained resilient.
