Road to Normality: England to Allow Some Sport Spectators to Return to the Stadiums

England now is moving towards the new normal way of life and has now taken the decision to allow the sport spectators to return to the stadiums. For the time being, the limit of these spectators has been capped at 4,000 people.

The U.K government has clarified that this decision shall be implemented from 2nd December onwards. This is the first time since march that premier leagues will see the return of people in the stadiums.

Although, it feels highly limited, it is a step forward. This decision, however, will only be limited to some parts of England which do not fall under the high-risk categories in order to ensure safety. These low-risk areas will be called as tier-one.

In the tier-2 regions, the limit is capped to 2,000 people to ensure that maximum safety precautions can be implemented. However, in the tier-3 regions, no spectators will be allowed until a further notice allowing the same.

A few of the sport games, like cricket matches have allowed some spectators prior to this, but majority of the sports like the football and rugby leagues and the horse racing venues have not seen spectators since the beginning of the lockdown period.

In order to facilitate these sports, the government even provided them with financial aid last week. At present, the tiers are very vague and the government has said that in the coming week, it would decide upon which region would sit in which tier.

The three of the biggest premier league clubs- Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City are however speculated to be in the high-risk areas and it remains to be seen whether any spectators will be allowed after the 2nd of December.

The government has however, made it very clear that only the home fans will be permitted in the stadiums, so as to avoid unnecessary travel by fans that are opposing the team.

This decision has been welcomed by the premier league a they said, that the fans have been greatly missed. Though, they are happy to see the fans return, they said, that the financial problems being faced by them will only ease when the country will see a return of the bigger crowds.
