Vivianne Miedema has now become the first footballer to have surpassed 50 goals in the Women’s Super League. She achieved this historic title after her hat-trick in the game for Arsenal against long time rival Tottenham on Sunday in London. They dominated and won the game 6-1 and gave no chance of even a semi revival to Tottenham.
It took her a total of 50 games to reach this whopping total of 52 goals. This also means that she is three goals ahead of Nikita Parris who was at the top of the scoring charts before Miedema.
Miedema who is 24 years of age said that everyone in the team played extremely well and she hopes that they can continue doing that further as well. She is now joining the Netherlands squad ahead of the game with Estonia and Kosovo.
Her first-half hat-trick was also supported by an early goal from her teammate Katie McCabe and the Gunners had a flawless start to the season.
Miedema had joined Arsenal in the year 2017 and has been unstoppable ever since. She now has 10 WSL goals in her court this season which is four more than the leagues next top scorer who is also her teammate Jill Roord.
The Arsenal coach Joe Montemurro said in a statement:
“We see from a football perspective week by week the contributions of Viv (Miedema) makes as a footballer.”
He also added that he feels lucky and blessed to be a part of her extraordinary everyday scenario. Furthermore, he went on to say, that she is an absolutely amazing person who works in a team and as a team member. She not only has skills on the ball but as an individual as well she is a great person. While playing she makes sure that she creates place for the others to score and in turn she’s got players in her team who create spaces for her.
She comes in the category of players who are known for their attacking style and brand of football.
