Opening on July 9, the timetable has been declared officially on the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode website where they have listed regular Paris-based heavyweights such as Rick Owens, Hermès, Ludovic De Saint Sernin, and Dior as expected for display on their Spring/Summer 2021 collections.
Associating with the likes of Google, Instagram, and Hylink in China, the digital fashion week will allow each brand to submit a video presentation to showcase the new products and express the brand’s creativity.
According to the sources, Olivier Rousteing, creative director stated: “I think every one of us will forever remember this past spring as being a dark one, marked by strange new fears and mandatory isolation. Even for those lucky enough to only have had to deal with Zoom frustrations and cabin fever, the recent confinement made very clear just how much we had taken for granted until that moment. Forced apart, we suddenly realised that we depended on being together.”
“Balmain is all about optimism, and after this period I wanted to bring back this optimism that this brand has been known for.”
To spot the 75th anniversary of the French fashion house, models will also wear pieces from Balmain’s archive – including creations from Pierre Balmain, Erik Mortensen and Oscar de la Renta -while the show will feature a performance from French singer Yseult.
The digitizing of fashion week this year has the likely to skewer the way we think of street style, FROW attendance, plus interrogate the arguably old-fashioned connotations of exclusivity associated with prestigious fashion events. Yet, regular physical runway shows are predictable to restart for the women’s wear season, starting in September with needed social distancing.
