Measles exposure at Montreal Canadiens game at the Bell Centre: Public Health Alert

Montreal public health officials have confirmed that an unvaccinated individual contagious with measles attended the NHL game between the Canadiens and the Buffalo Sabres at the Bell Centre on 3 March.

Anyone who was a spectator or concession worker in the red seating area, specifically sections 111 to 117, between 5:30 p.m. and midnight is considered a measles contact. Staff working at the Tim Hortons and Pizza Pizza inside the arena are also included.

Health authorities advise that unvaccinated individuals identified as contacts should self-isolate at home until 17 March inclusive.

Those outside the designated risk area may have been exposed to the virus but are not considered direct contacts. They are advised to monitor for symptoms.

Between mid-December and 7 March, Quebec has recorded 31 confirmed measles cases, with 24 reported in the Laurentians region north of Montreal.
