Holidaying in Spain is Back in Fashion

Spain has been the holiday choice of many Britishers. With an ease in the COVID restrictions across the globe, holidaying abroad is back in fashion. The Spanish authorities caused a confusion amongst travellers by passing a rule that unvaccinated Britishers could enter Spain with a COVID test, which they later took a U-turn on.

The authorities have passed a few rules which need to be compulsorily followed while travelling to Spain. Anyone travelling to Spain has to be fully vaccinated or should have recovered from COVID recently and have relevant proof of the same. To be counted as a fully vaccinated individual, one must have completed their full course of vaccination 14 days before travelling to Spain, if the vaccination course is completed 270 days before travelling to Spain, then an additional booster jab is required to qualify as fully vaccinated.

Spain has eased their restrictions for teens aged 12-17, teens can travel if they have a negative COVID test taken before travel. An additional pre-travel health form needs to be filled by adults who have recently recovered from COVID or even by unvaccinated teens between the ages of 12-17 before 48 hours of their travel.

To visit Canary Islands, you need to be completely vaccinated or have proof of recovery. These rules are akin to those of Spain. Teens in the age range of 12-17 can travel, provided they have a negative test proof taken within 72 hours prior to travelling.

These rules apply for accommodation as well. It is mandatory for all travellers to fill a pre travel online form before visiting the Canaries.

The local Covid restrictions setup by the Canaries have been suspended for now. These included removing capacity limits for venues such as bars and restaurants, and also allowing dancing in nightclubs.

Travellers visiting Balearic Islands need to be fully Covid vaccinated. As per the Balearic Tourism Board website, negative covid test or proof of recent recovery will not be accepted for travellers arriving from the UK. Anyone wishing to visit the Balearic Islands will need to fill out a pre-travel health check form online. Children below 12 years of age are exempt from vaccination and testing requirements. The Foreign Office travel advice states: “If you are travelling from mainland Spain, you may need to produce negative Covid Test depending on the region you are travelling from. You are advised to check with your travel operators and local authorities in your final destination for guidance on domestic entry requirements.”
