Amazon today made an announcement that it intends to create a total of 3000 more jobs by expanding its office in Boston. The people who will be hired by this expansion will primarily cater to the web department.
There will be software engineers, people well versed with artificial intelligence and machine learning and finally HR and finance personnel will also be recruited to manage the overall operations. These jobs will not be created overnight, it will be a slow and steady project. The expansion at Boston could take a few years and Amazon will not rush into it.
Work on the proposed expansion has already begun as Amazon has leased a 17-storey office for its operations and this building will be for the new hires. It is expected that the office should be completed by the 2024 if not earlier but the main aim is to create an office that accommodates all the need of the employees. The office will be a spectacular and lavish one.
It will have place for leisure activities including theatres and open spaces to help relax and rejuvenate. Amazon has been growing in Boston with leaps and bounds and therefore the need to expand seems eminent and is also the logical decision to make. The building that has been leased is in the Seaport District of Boston.
Even during the pandemic, where many organisations had to lay off several employees, Amazon kept up with its practice of hiring. A major reason for that is, the lockdown only created a more intense need for e-commerce. With people locked inside their houses, the only legible choice to get goods and services was Amazon.
The total number of employees hired by Amazon in the year 20202 was a whopping 400,000. The total number of employees working in different departments of the e-commerce giant Amazon are more than a million as of now.
Now Amazon is working towards establishing offices in the major countries of the world, mainly the tech-giants to expand its business even further with a focus on big cities like New York, Detroit and San Diego.
