In a significant development for Air India passengers, the airline has entered into a groundbreaking intermodal agreement with AccesRail, a well-known IATA travel partner. This partnership is set to revolutionise the travel experience for Air India customers by offering seamless access to over 100 European cities and towns, including destinations without airports.
This collaborative effort allows Air India passengers to embark on extensive European journeys with the convenience of a single ticket. It bridges the gap between air travel and ground transportation, making it possible for travellers to explore numerous countries and regions without the need for multiple bookings or complex itineraries.
Features of the Agreement
One of the standout features of this agreement is that Air India passengers will enjoy a consistent baggage allowance throughout their entire journey. This means that whether they are in the air or using bus and rail services, travellers can count on a hassle-free experience when it comes to their luggage.
The European adventure for Air India passengers doesn’t have to pause upon disembarking from the flight; in fact, it can begin right at the gateways of Europe. Travellers will have the opportunity to explore a wide array of European countries, including Germany, Austria, Belgium, Hungary, Italy, the Czech Republic, and the United Kingdom, through key airports such as Amsterdam, Birmingham, London Gatwick, Milan, London Heathrow, and Vienna.
Access Available
The intermodal ticket purchase extends beyond the airport, granting passengers access to a range of bus and rail services. These services include renowned providers like Avanti West Coast (U.K.), Trenitalia (Italy), National Express (U.K.), SNCB Belgian Railways, Thalys (Netherlands/Belgium), and ÖBB Austrian Railways (Austria). Air India travellers will have the flexibility to choose from a variety of transportation options to suit their preferences and itineraries.
This initiative mirrors a similar move by Vistara earlier this year, which collaborated with WorldTicket to offer connections through Deutsche Bahn rail services from Frankfurt to multiple destinations in Germany on a single ticket. Air India’s participation in enhancing connectivity between Europe and India demonstrates the airline’s commitment to providing passengers with more diverse and seamless travel experiences.
Air India’s Chief Commercial & Transformation Officer, Nipun Aggarwal, expressed enthusiasm about this development, emphasising that the expansion of Air India’s global network and its partnership with AccesRail will help provide guests simplified access to a wide network of European destinations and contribute to bridging connectivity gaps between India and Europe.
