COVID-19 Outbreak Leads to Extending Lockdown in China

Rise in new cases of corona virus leading to failure of zero covid policy of Chinese government as traces are still being found in various cities in China. Over 1000 new cases of the virus are found in China every day, prompting to impose the “zero covid policy” which has caused fear, anger and confusion among Chinese people.

Chinese citizens have already suffered the dilemma of lockdown and now after the comeback of the zero covid policy, peoples are scared about its repetition, according to Africa Daily Digital. Shops, schools, and restaurants have been asked to shut down in several parts of the country. Government already ordered mass testing on 1.3 million people in Shanghai and ordered them to stay at home until the results are out.

The Universal Resort in Beijing has to shuts down as fresh cases of Covid-19 arising in the capital city. At least 31 cities in China are under lockdown, which has affected over 232 million lives. The famous tourist spot Disney Resort in Shanghai drops operations without prior notice. About 30,000 people inside the resort were not allowed until the test did not come negative. The people living around this resort are were subjected to strict norms.

The fear of lockdown could be seen in migrant workers as they are trying to fleeing back to their hometown from the country’s largest iPhone factory in Zhengzhou.
