admin The Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) has been disclosed as the world’s largest book fair in terms of buying and selling copyrights for the second year in a row. Concealed by the slogan of ‘Spread of Words, the 2022 edition of SIBF will be held from 2-13 November at Expo Centre Sharjah.
This book fair will incorporate around 2,213 publishers from 95 countries and display more than 1.5 million books. More than 100 authors and scholars from 57 countries will lead dynamic and distinct activities at the 12-day cultural demonstration. During the opening ceremony of the 41st edition of the book fair, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah inaugurates the historic moment on 1st November at Expo Centre Sharjah.
The Sharjah ruler welcomed the attendees at the SIBF inauguration, and highlighted the past two years’ fair that launches the first volumes of the Historical Dictionary of the Arabic Language’. He also pointed out the importance and benefits of a dictionary in research and history and its informational uniqueness.
After that, the ceremony begin with an artistic show that included creative paintings and live performances embodying the importance of the word and its impact on building civilizations. Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, Chairman of the Sharjah Book Authority, addressed in his speech the huge importance of the Sharjah International Book Fair and the unstoppable growth achieved by the fair, establishing Sharjah as a destination for writers and a global center for culture.
Lorenze Fanara, Ambassador of Italy expressed his joy to the UAE at the naming of Italy as a guest of honor of the new edition of the SIBF. After the inauguration ceremony, Dr. Sheik Sultan toured the fair, whereas being briefed about the number of pavilions of the participating institutions, bodies, and publishing houses, as well as on what the fair is offering in its current edition.
