Apple to Launch MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro with M2 Chip Later this Year

A report by 9to5Mac, stating that Apple will introduce a ‌MacBook Air‌ and a 13-inch MacBook Pro with ‌M2‌ chip later this year. The report added that noted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s recent prediction, where he informed that Apple will use M1 or an updated version of it on its next-generation ‌MacBook Air‌, is incorrect.

Although analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes the new MacBook Air will have an updated M1 chip, sources close to the website confirmed the machine is being developed with the new M2 chip.

The next-generation MacBook Air, which is codenamed J413, is likely to be released in a single version featuring the M2 chip.

However, claims Apple could drop the “Pro” labelling on the 13-inch MacBook Pro, referring to it as just “MacBook” as they have done in the past, according to the report by 9to5Mac.

It must be noted that we have learnt a lot about how the next-generation versions of the ‌MacBook Air‌ and 13-inch MacBook Pro from sources like Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who had also confirmed that the new ‌MacBook Air‌ will come in a completely refreshed look.

Bloomberg’s Gurman had previously provided insight into how the new ‌M2‌ chip might come with the same 8-core CPU as the ‌M1‌ but with 9 and 10-core GPU options.
