admin Trae Young scored a career-high 50 points as Atlanta Hawkins won against Miami Heat 129-124 in the National Basketball Association (NBA) home win. Young was in a fiery mood on Thursday and was looking like nobody could stop him.
He doesn’t need people calling him one of the best players of the league by his peers and the fans as a way of giving him validation.
He got 19 free throws out of which he scored in 18 of them while he scored in eight of the 15 three-pointers. After giving this astonishing performance, he told the reporters, “I have always had confidence in myself.”
ESPN Stats and Info confirmed the 21-year-old to be the fourth-youngest player to score 50 points. He is just behind LeBron James, Devin Booker and Brandon Jennings.
This is also the first time a player from Hawk has scored 50 points in a game since Shareef Abdur-Rahim in 2001. Abdur’s performance made his teammate John Collins to hail his “our leader”.
Young has an average of 30.1 points per game this season and is the second-highest scorer. Hawks have defeated Miami Heats for the first time this season after four tries.
Hawks are the 14th place while the Miami Heats are fourth in the Eastern Conference and are in the race of the play-off spot.
Jimmy Butler asked his teammates to play strong in the away games. He feels that they are comfortable at the home games because of the home crowd.
He told the reporters, “At home, we’re tough because we guard and we also make shots. But on the road, we just tend to leave our defence at home. We’ll figure it out. We’ve got nothing but time… I’m confident in our group.”
Butler of intimidated by Young’s performance and praised him for his skills and work-ethics.
He said: “He showed us why he’s a hell of a player in this league at a very young age, and how he can handle guarding, scoring, on both ends of the floor.”
