The United States swimmer a five-time Olympic gold medallist Katie Ledecky secure a victory by 21 seconds in her latest tournament. This victory has special meaning for her as it is her first victory since March 2020 making it after an entire year.
She is a well-known name as not only has she secured a gold medal in the Olympics five times, but she has also won a whopping 15 world championship titles. For this victory, Katie finished in merely 15 seconds and being seconds ahead of the others competing for the title.
By this enormous time gap, she also managed to take home the title of the fastest record in this year, that is anything more than 17 seconds giving Katie a nice edge. The margin of victory was also huge as it equated to approximately half of the length of the pool.
The second prize was bagged by Ashley Twitchell who fini9shed the race in 16 seconds and 4 mini seconds. The third one on the other hand went to Erica Sullivan who finished just 3 milliseconds after Ashley.
Katie is a very young athlete only 23 years of age and she has been quite popular given her immense talent in the field. She remarked that she was happy with her victory and that it is always good when top swimmers come together and race against each other to win a prize. She also exclaimed that it is fun to be a part of such a competition.
Other than this, Katie holds world records for the 400m, 800m and 1500m freestyle swims. Katie also said that since the pandemic, the opportunities to swim have been extremely limited so she is happy to be back and to be in form.
This win is a part of the TYR Pro Swim Series taking place in San Antonio. In the 1500m freestyle men’s category the first prize was bagged by Jordon Willimovsky who also took merely 15 seconds and 15 milliseconds. The second prize went to Will Galant who took 5 more milliseconds.
