ICC Announces Its Favourite Cricketers for This Decade

Every decade an enormous moment comes in the lives of almost all cricketers where ICC, the highest cricket body bestows some valiant cricketers with awards and honours to acknowledge their contribution to the field of cricket.

The list included best players in different formats as well as the ICC team of the decade which includes cricketers from all teams. The best female Rachel Heyhoe-Flint award and the best male player to Sir Garfield Sobers awards were also announced.

All awards were given digitally and the awards were announced one after the other. The male cricketer of the decade that is the Sir Garfield Sobers Award was given to Virat Kohli and the Rachel Heyhoe-Flint award was given to Ellyse Perry as the female cricketer of the decade.

The Men’s Test Cricketer of the decade was given to Steve Smith whereas ODI Cricketer of the decade was once again given to the Indian cricketer Virat KohlI. Rashid Khan from Bangladesh bagged the next award as the ICC Men’s T20I cricketer of the decade. Kyle Coetzer received the honour of the ICC Men’s Associate Cricketer of the decade and Mahendra Singh Dhoni was given the ICC Spirit of Cricket Award of the decade.

For the women category, other awards included were ODI and T20I which were both bestowed on Ellyse Perry. The women’s associate cricketer of the decade was Kathryn Brye.

The team of the decade, that is the best players who could holistically be the absolute dream team were also announce by ICC. For these teams, voting was done by an academy of journalists and broadcasters that were decided very early on.

The ICC Men’s Test Team comprised of Alastair Cook, David Warner, Steve         Smith, Kane Williamson, Kumar Sangakkara (Wicketkeeper), Ben Stokes, Virat Kohli (Captain), R Ashwin, James Anderson, Dale Steyn and Stuart Broad.

The ICC Women’s ODI Team of the Decade was as follows- Alyssa Healey, Suzia Bates, Mithali Raj, Meg Lanning (Captain), Stefanie Taylor, Ellyse Perry, Dane van Niekerk, Sarah Taylor (Wicketkeeper), Marizanne Kapp, Jhulan Goswami and Anisa Mohammed.

Other teams for different categories were also announced in this extensive saga of awards.
