Health Canada along with the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (U.S. CPSC) has issued a recall for many baby products which are suspected to be harmful from fire risk to strangulation on Thursday.

In these listed products there is the Crate & Barrel Hampshire baby crib which was bought between the dates June 2022 and November 2023. Health Canada has claimed in a notice that the crib was “recalled due to fall and entrapment hazards.”

“The crib mattress supports can become loose, dislodged or damaged, posing a fall hazard and entrapment hazard,” the notice states.

Health Canada has said that on March 27, the company got handed two reports which were related to the faulty screws that connect the mattress support to the crib in Canada, also one of the reports of the mattress support was reportedly damaged but fortunately did not state about any injuries due to it.

In The United States, the company has received 12 reports of the mattress support getting loose and dangerous.

There was another product which was recalled by Health Canada named, Shandi 0-25 kg Big Space Electric Baby Crib Cradle Infant Rocker Auto Swing Bed Baby Cradle. Even this baby product was said to be having a fatal “risk of entanglement and strangulation.”

“Health Canada’s sampling and evaluation program has determined that these cradles do not meet the Cribs, Cradles and Bassinets Regulations in Canada. Specifically, the product contains a restraint system which is not allowed as it poses a risk of entanglement and strangulation,” the notice said.

The notice further read that, “ Health Canada reminds parents and caregivers that the safest place for a baby to sleep is on their back on a firm, flat surface intended for sleep.”
