The highly prestigious Cannes film festival has been postponed two months, that is, it will now be held in the month of July to ensure the safety of all the beneficiaries.
The film festival is quite an extensive one and is attended by almost all the celebrities irrespective of their place. It is now scheduled to take place between July 6th and July 17th. The organisers as of now have provided no additional information about the same.
The event is scheduled to take place after the trade show Cannes Lions which is as of now on schedule and will take place between June 21st and June 25th.
Given the current scenario, backups are also being planned. Therefore, if the pandemic is not under control by the month of June, the organisers are well prepared to shift it towards the end of August as well.
Last autumn, the authorities had issued a statement that the dates for the Cannes Film Festival are subject to change and a final call will only be taken when global health is achieved and no threat exists.
Last year, the festival had to be cancelled as it was impossible to hold an event with so many people. this year, Cannes plans to postpone the event till whatever time necessary but in all likelihood, the event will take place.
Spike Lee, who is a well renowned name in the Hollywood film industry was the jury president for the Cannes Film Festival in 2020 but given that it was cancelled, it is being hoped that he would still take over for this year. But, that remains to be seen as no official confirmation has come from the authorities.
It is expected that soon enough, all details relevant to the Cannes Film Festival will be made available to ensure that all stakeholders are well aware of them. It is a glorious event and one is that is awaited by many.
With successful vaccination drives in almost all parts of the world, it is being expected that the Festival would not have to be delayed any further.
