admin Thursday on Instagram there has been a teaser of “special project” which is indicating brands Prada and Adidas are coming together.
At this stage little is known of how the collaboration will take shape. The image shared online points to footwear, by way of two Adidas shoe boxes placed inside a classic Prada shopping bag. Out of which one featuring the Adidas Originals logo, and the second the brand’s signature three stripes. At this moment, no further information has been given from either brands besides the creation of a bespoke hashtag.
In recent years, Prada has also inclined into the modern-day trend for sportswear by increasing its sneaker offering with the Cloudbust and Prada Block styles, in addition to reissuing its sportswear line, Linea Rosso, in 2018.
For Adidas the German sportswear giant, this is indicating another venture into the fashion sector. Adidas with collaborations with Stella McCartney, Rick Owens, Raf Simons and Kanye West’s Yeezy line, has been instrumental in tapping merger between fashion and sportswear already as a part of its offering.
The two boxes appear to confirm the leak from PY_LEAKS by PY_RATES which reported that two collaborative shoes will be releasing. The earlier link also added that the sneakers will be called “adidas Prada Sailing” and will release in “White/Metallic Silver” alongside a “Red” colorway.
This new designer collab marks another intersection between the athletic company and high fashion. Previous collaborators include Raf Simons, Rick Owens, Alexander Wang, and Stella McCartney, among others. As streetwear continues to prevail as a driving force for consumers, especially when partnered with a luxury edge (the Supreme X Louis Vuitton collection, for example), it’s drops like these that keep the hype going.
