Rolls-Royce Reaches Highest Ever Sale in 116-year History

Rolls-Royce sold 5,152 of its luxury cars in over 50 countries around the world, a historic annual sales record in 2019 and the highest number in its 116-year history. Registering an increase of 25% compared to the previous sales record set in 2018, Rolls-Royce’s contribution to the overall performance of its shareholder BMW Group has also increased. Rolls-Royce’s Cullinan, very first SUV named after the biggest diamond, costs upwards of £264,000 and was launched in May 2018, has been a major contributor to the brand’s overall sales growth and Rolls says that demand for the Black Badge continues to be in strong demand amongst younger customers.

Rolls-Royce Cullinan is powered by a 6.75-litre V12 engine and is equipped with several tech features like pedestrian and wildlife alert, night vision function, 4-cameras with panoramic view, active cruise control and a lot more.

The chief executive of Rolls-Royce Torsten Müller-Otvös, said he was very smiley, very happy while announcing an extraordinary year of global sales.

He said that worldwide demand last year for Cullinan SUV has driven this success and is expected to stabilise in 2020. It is a ringing testament to the quality and integrity of their products, the faith and passion of Rolls-Royce customers and, above all, the skill, dedication and determination of the company’s  exceptional team in Goodwood and around the world and its dedicated global dealer network.

From jet-engine maker Rolls-Royce, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, as the company is officially known to be different, said their sales were strongest in the US. In North America, about a third of its cars were delivered to customers, followed by China, which accounted for about a quarter.

Müller-Otvös said they are not really in the car business but in the luxury goods business. All its clients have multiple cars in their garages. The company is famous for customise a Rolls-Royce to build own masterpiece and that has attracted quite a lot of clients worldwide.

On the future after Brexit, Müller-Otvös said: “What needs to be delivered are proper, long-lasting trade deals not only with the European Union but also with the entire rest of the world,” he said. “Free flow of goods and people, that is very important for us.” He said Rolls-Royce was committed to remaining in the UK. The company was bought by Germany’s BMW in 1998.
