The current Amazon CEO Jeff Bezoz has decided to step down from the position of the Amazon CEO by the end of the year 2021. He is excited to be entering into a different phase in his life.
Andy Jassy will be taking over the mega giant Amazon as their new CEO. Jeff Bezoz has been the CEO of Amazon ever since its inception in the year 1995. This is the first significant leadership change in Amazon since its foundation.
Jeff Bezoz has been an amazing CEO to Amazon and the success of Amazon can be largely attributed to him. It was under his guidance that Amazon rose to its position from a simple bookseller to a global retail and logistics giant with a whopping $1.7 trillion net worth.
Jassy has also been with Amazon since the year 1997 and currently is serving as the CEO of the Amazon cloud business. These are the web services that Amazon offers and the most profits are usually associated to it.
Bezoz confirming his stepping down wrote a letter to the all the company’s employees stating that his journey with Amazon began 27 years ago and back then it was merely an idea and had no name attached to it. He also added that at that time, the question that was asked to him time and again was that what is internet? And today how the winds have changed and at Amazon they employ more than 1.3 million talented people and serve countless number of consumers.
The news of Bezoz stepping down surely comes as a shocker to many as it comes directly after the fourth quarter earnings in which Amazon did incredibly well beating all the projections that were earlier made with regard to the profits.
Bezoz now plans to utilise his free time for more projects outside the domain of Amazon. He felt that as CEO of Amazon, a lot of responsibilities were levied on him and with the free time he can put his attention somewhere else as well. He also added that Jassy has his fully confidence.
