Roger Federer Donated $1 M to Coronavirus Relief Fund, Switzerland

Mirka Federer and Roger Federer, the Swiss couple announced on Wednesday that they are going to provide monetary help of 1 million Swiss Francs to the families affected by coronavirus outbreak in the Swiss territory.

Switzerland is facing an immense impact of the international health hazard as more than 8,000 cases have been recorded by the authorities from the entire nation and it has accounted for about 66 deaths which are big figures for a country like Switzerland which a total population of around 8.5 million. The 0.1 per cent of the population is already affected by the virus and more cases are yet to be confirmed.

A public gathering of more than five people is banned in the public spaces and people are charged with fines who go against this rule. This rule is helping slow down the virus.

The Swiss Lawn Tennis Star who is also one of the biggest players the game has ever seen, with the greatest number of grand slams has always been the one to give back to the society.

This time he asked people to help each other as “these are challenging times for everyone and nobody should be left behind.”

In an Instagram post, he wrote: “Mirka and I have personally decided to donate one million Swiss Francs for the most vulnerable families in Switzerland. Our contribution is just a start. We hope that others might join in supporting more families in need. Together we can overcome this crisis! Stay healthy!” Roger has won 20 Grand Slams which is the most in the world. There are more star athletes and big clubs around the globe who are helping by donating money to the relief funds during the ongoing health disaster.
