Bahrain’s First Surf Park Set to Open in 2026, Bringing Waves to the Middle East

Bahrain is set to make waves in the Middle East with the unveiling of its first-ever surf park. Scheduled to open in early 2026, Bahrain Surf Park will be located on the southwest side of the island, along the beautiful sunset coast. This cutting-edge facility will feature the advanced ‘Wavegarden Cove’ technology, making it the first in the region to use this groundbreaking technology from Spain.

The surf park aims to bring the true spirit of Hawaii to the Middle East. As the birthplace of surfing, Hawaii’s culture and essence will be embedded throughout the park’s design. With a capacity to accommodate up to 90 surfers at a time, Bahrain Surf Park will offer 1,000 waves per hour. This ensures that surfers of all levels, from beginners to professionals, will have access to consistent and high-quality waves.

Bahrain Surf Park will offer a variety of amenities for both surf enthusiasts and visitors. The Club Hawaii Surf Academy will provide expert training and guidance, with over 140,000 surf sessions held annually. In addition, the park will have multiple food and beverage outlets, retail stores, terraces, and private entertainment areas. An international surfing competition is also planned for 2026, adding further excitement to the venue.

The project is a collaboration between Edamah, Bahrain Real Estate Investment Company, and GFH Financial Group. Bahrain Surf Park will be a key part of the Bilaj Al Jazayer megaproject, spanning 1.3 million square meters of Bahrain’s southwest coast. This destination is expected to attract 300,000 local and international visitors annually, becoming a major tourism hub.

Victoria Williams, the General Manager of Bahrain Surf Park, expressed excitement about the project’s impact. “We aim to create ‘Waves for All,’ making surfing accessible to everyone, regardless of experience,” she said. The park will cater to all ages and backgrounds, making it a welcoming environment for newcomers and seasoned surfers alike.

Fernando Odriozola, Chief Commercial Director at Wavegarden, shared his enthusiasm for the consistent, diverse waves the park will provide. With Bahrain Surf Park, the region will gain a new landmark surf destination, further cementing Bahrain’s reputation as a must-visit location for surfing.
