admin In a new study in the United States, the vaccine by Astra Zeneca and Oxford was found to be highly effective with a rate of 79%. This has opened the road for the vaccine to get approval in the United States.
The experts said that the vaccine gave good results on all the adults that it was tried on. Recently, even the European Union had said that the vaccine was effective and was working well for all the European countries.
The vaccine is already in use in almost all countries of Europe, India and most of the Asian region countries. It is a two dose vaccination that has to be taken after a four week gap. The gap may be a little different from one country to another, it can go up to eight weeks as well.
Astra Zeneca also said in a statement that after these results, it may go in to seek clearance in the United States and start the supply of vaccinations there as well. Currently, there are three vaccines being administered in the US. One being Pfizer, the other being Mordena and the Johnson and Johnson vaccine. Johnson and Johnson is a single dose vaccine while the others require two doses.
The study that was conducted included an entire plethora of individuals but the results of the study have not been provided as such till now. Other countries also conducted several studies on this vaccine and this study has now reconfirmed those.
The FDA will first appoint an advisory committee that will debate whether or not the vaccine should be approved in public and only after that will decide whether to approve it or not. Astra Zeneca is ready with the supplies that are required.
The United States has a very extensive vaccination plan going on where the healthcare and frontline workers have already been vaccinated. The results of this study are from the Phase 3 trails that took place in the United States, all results will also be made available to the public
