In the quest for achieving global health equity, collaboration and partnerships across sectors have emerged as powerful tools. As the world grapples with the ongoing challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and other health disparities, cross-sector collaborations are paving the way for accelerated progress towards a more equitable and resilient healthcare landscape.
The power of cross-sector partnerships lies in their ability to bring together diverse stakeholders, including governments, non-profit organizations, private sector entities, academia, and local communities. By combining resources, expertise, and networks, these partnerships can address the multifaceted factors that contribute to health inequities and work towards sustainable solutions.
One of the key advantages of cross-sector collaboration is its potential to address the social determinants of health. By recognizing that health outcomes are influenced by factors such as education, income, housing, and access to clean water and sanitation, these partnerships aim to tackle the root causes of health disparities. By leveraging the expertise of various sectors, interventions can be designed to promote health equity holistically, focusing on prevention, early intervention, and empowerment of marginalized communities.
However, successful cross-sector partnerships require careful planning, clear communication, and a shared commitment to health equity. Stakeholders must establish trust, align objectives, and address power imbalances to ensure that all voices are heard and that decisions are made with the best interests of marginalized populations in mind.
This side event will feature a moderated, cross-sector panel highlighting key principles and perspectives of effective health equity measurement and the importance of collaborative partnership. Panelists include representatives from the World Economic Forum’s Global Health Equity Network member organizations, including Johnson & Johnson, UNICEF, PATH, Deloitte, and more. This event has taken place on 18th July 2023 at Rwanda in Kigali convention centre. The Panelists will share insights and learnings from the work that their organizations have done and continue to do to drive health equity action and impact for their workforce, customers, communities, and ecosystems.
The session will also explore the importance, challenges, and opportunities for building joint platforms and partnerships and measuring impact across sectors and geographies. Organized by World Economic Forum.
Accelerating global health equity necessitates collaborative efforts across sectors. By leveraging the strengths of governments, non-profit organizations, businesses, academia, and communities, cross-sector partnerships have the potential to transform healthcare systems, address health disparities, and improve the well-being of populations around the world. As we navigate the complex challenges of today and tomorrow, fostering and supporting these partnerships will be crucial to building a more equitable and resilient global health landscape.
