admin Two Internal Medicine Clinical Lecturers from the Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Teknologi MARA, (UiTM), Malaysia recently received a special educational award in the Asia Pacific Society of Respirology (APSR) Congress. The APSR Congress 2019 was held in Hanoi, Vietnam from 14th November 2019 till 17th November 2019. This International Congress was attended by speakers and participants from all over the world. Topics during this congress covered areas of pulmonary and critical care medicine and sleep breathing disorders, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, lung cancer, chronic and acute respiratory failure, interstitial lung diseases, pneumonia, pulmonary circulation disorders such as pulmonary arterial hypertension, bronchiectasis, smoking cessation, and respiratory rehabilitation.
Dr. Muhammad Hanis Muhmad Hamidi, the recipient of the APSR Respiratory Neurobiology and Sleep Assembly Education Award presented his interesting research on “Influence of Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA) on Timing of Acute Coronary Syndrome Onset (ACS)”. He highlighted that OSA risk indeed was one of the most significant predictors for night-time ACS.
Meanwhile, Dr. Aisya Natasya Musa presented her case study on “Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) as the First Presentation in ANA-Negative Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE)”received the APSR Pulmonary Circulation Assembly Education Award. In her presentation, she highlighted on the importance of practicing early aggressive treatment which might improve SLE‐PAH outcome. UiTM Medicine is proud of their achievements in contributing to knowledge which would enable more work towards a better future for respiratory health.
