We are done with the Oscars for the year 2020 and it will not be wrong to say that Parasite stole the show this year as it won many major and auspicious awards of the night. Parasite had in its bucket the award for the best picture, best picture in foreign language, best direction, and best original screenplay.
This is the first time any non-English language movie has won the award for the best picture. Parasite was directed by Bong Joon-ho who is South-Korean. He has another South-Korean movie project lined up after which he will work on a Hollywood movie.
1917, directed by Sam Mendes, was supposed to win multiple awards banked just the award for best cinematography.
The award for the best actor went to Joaquin Phoenix for the movie Joker and he got very emotional which giving his winning speech. He talked about different issues including the climate crisis, discrimination on the basis of sex, race and this won the hearts of people.
Eminem was a surprise performance in the event as he took 17 years to get back on stage. He sang ‘Lose Yourself’ at the eve.
The award for the best actress went to Renee Zellweger for the movie Judy which was a musical biography. She took a break from acting between 2000-2006.
The award for the best-supporting actress went to Laura Dern for her role as a divorce lawyer in the movie Marriage Story, while the award for the best-supporting actor went to Brad Pitt for the movie Once Upon A Time in Hollywood.
Best adapted screenplay award went to Jojo Rabbit which was a satire.
