There were no black members that were included in the organisation comprising of a total of 87 members, which led to a lot of discontentment among the netizens. However, the award list seems to have satisfied all with a number of black actors and filmmakers winning big!
The audio quality in particular was a major miss in the award function leading to the winning speeches of most awardees being missed.
The award function was co-hosted by two prominent names in the industry Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. While Tina attended the function from New York, Amy did the same from Beverly Hills. Most celebrities were missing in the function and chose it attend it virtually given the pandemic.
The best drama series for the year went to Netflix’s The Crown which took three other trophies as well. The digital shows and movies won big in this award night and were seen dominating the entertainment arena.
The best motion picture in drama went to Nomadland. The best foreign film was bestowed upon the Korean film Mianri. Netflix series Schitts’s creek was also highly popular and won two trophies at the golden globe.
Another ground breaking thing that happened at the golden globes was that three female directors were nominated in one category.
Walt Disney shows also scored big on the awards night for their television series and films. The shares of both Netflix and Disney saw heights after winning at the Golden Globes.
The 78th edition of the Golden Globes was indeed different from the others that take place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel and is a star-studded affair. The award function is usually held in the month of January but this year it was delayed for a month and then it was eventually conducted in an online mode.
