Australia Open: Naomi Osaka, Novak Djokovic Emerge as Winners in Their Respective Categories

This season of the Australia open was a treat to watch for all the tennis fans and eventually after a series of matches, two players Naomi Osaka and Novak Djokovic emerged victorious and took away the trophies for this season.

For Novak, this is the ninth title that he has won in Melbourne making it a momentous win for him. His total tally of Grand Slam titles now stands at 18 which is only two short from Nadal and Federer. To clinch this title, Novak beat Daniil Medvedev in the finals. The score card was 7-5 in the first round, 6-2 in the second and again 6-2 in the third.

Naomi Osaka beat Jenifer Brady to win her title and secure the win. For her, this is the fourth major title in tennis. Osaka was elated by her win. Osaka now seems to be an unstoppable force as she hasn’t lost a single match in over a year. The match took place for a total of 77 minutes before Naomi could lift the trophy. The score card was 6-4 in the first round and 6-3 in the second. Not only this, with this win, Naomi has secured her place of number 2 in world tennis.

Novak exclaimed that this tournament was extremely hard for him emotionally as he faced extreme backlash from numerous media channels as well as physically as he got injured in the third round but he took it all in his stride. He said all of this eventually was worth it and made the win even sweeter for him.

Novak has made his place in nine Australia Opens and has the impeccable record of winning each of those nine times. The two players who hold 20 titles in their stride are Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal and Novak who has 18 is younger than both of them. he is a year younger to Nadal and 6 from Federer.

Naomi who is Japanese by birth is merely 23 years old and has managed to take the entire tennis industry by storm. She said that the feeling of winning is indeed incredible and that playing with the fans once again was one of the major highlights of the win. She thanked everyone for opening up their arms and hearts towards the players. She looks forward to more such seasons and wins in her career.
