Mahendra Nath Vyas: A Zealous and Transformational Entrepreneur

An Engineer by profession, but the zeal to do something where we do not mandate ourselves in this rapidly changing world allows Mahendra Nath Vyas to try new and emerging businesses rather than continuing the legacy trend of business. He founded Planetcast Media Services Limited along with his purest admirers and well-wishers in 1996 and his designs in satellite communication spacecraft at ISRO made him believe that we can do even if it has got no pedigree, and also pushed him into something to do around Satellite either Broadcast or Communications.

“It was my dream to provide technological solutions as services for most complex applications. Innovate, simplify and adopt the best technologies at a price where the business can sustain, was the mantra. We dreamt about this and still working on it,” evinced Mahendra.

To achieve the set goals Mahendra works for longer hours, at least 8 to 10 hours. However, the time zones and the type of business need to be available at all times (24X7)

 “It was the zeal to transform business vision and the benefits to our society,” reflecting on what compels him to start this business. Today, the democracies/Governances and almost all areas have accountability, knowledge, and people’s involvement through growth in Media, content, distribution, etc. Planetcast was founded with a vision to provide highly complex technologies in a simple way & use it as a service. This may impact industries globally & actually happening in broadcast Technologies. Planetcast has been an epitome of quality and trust for almost two decades. Planetcast was among the early leaders to provide teleport and associated services to broadcasters. In the early 90s, the television industry started its growth journey and there was a growing demand for technical services in the media and entertainment industry, Planetcast came to the expectations in fulfillment of the needs and demands.

While discussing how he arranged the initial funds for setting the company Mahendra revealed, “Initial Seed capital was provided by my ex-employer as a venture fund. Raised debt to accomplish the starting cash requirements while the second round of financing for business by private equity funding.”

According to Mahendra, to establish a strong company culture you should set the company’s key values and live with them. “Define the purpose of your company and relating emotionally with vision. Be Fair, Consistent, and judicious in rewarding towards all co-workers. Build trust with your employees. Innovation, & Quality in everything. Be Consistent and enjoy your work. And, most importantly take care of Employees, Customers, and Investors.”

Formula to become a successful entrepreneur

According to Mahendra, to become a successful entrepreneur you must be proactive, passionate, persuasive, humble, and honest. In the same way, be respectful & empathetic to all (Customers, collaborators, partners, employees, investors, and nature). Customers’ needs are constantly changing so always be innovative!

Future Goals

Having catered to the diverse broadcasting and content-management needs of the media industry over the past two decades, Planetcast’s adoption of cloud technology is propelled with new technologies as AI and ML, along with its global initiative of leveraging its Singapore facility as a global gateway in the coming decade to serve the market in Asia, SAARC, SEA, Middle East, and African markets in the future. “We will create a significant presence in the US and Europe, which will enable it to communicate efficiently with big media companies, and provide more services to our customer base  originating  from the US. The move to expand geographies will provide growth to the company, sooner than expected,” affirmed Mahendra.

Mahendra recommends entrepreneurs invest their time in innovating new ideas to develop new products and services to keep up with changing consumer demands, sustainability. Also, focus on business growth strategies and build a strong organization to create entirely new business avenues.
