Ted Mundroff is hired by ArcLight Cinemas on Friday as the theatre chain’s fresh president and chief operating officer.
Mundroff resigned from his post of head of Landmark Theatres in October. Mundroff headed Landmark for 15 years in succession before he resigned. He was responsible for expanding the Landmark experience to Denver, Indianapolis, Washington DC, Miami and with that, he also opened the Flagship locations in New York and Los Angeles.
As the Landmark group acquired Cohen Media Group in December 2018, he departed from the company.
Talking about his plans for ArcLight, he said, “I am excited to be working with Chris again, alongside the entire ArcLight team. Since its founding, ArcLight has been a leading innovator in our industry, and I look forward to continuing to deliver meaningful movie-going experiences to guests across the country.”
Mundroff has also served as the VP and Film Buyer at Pacific Theatres and ArcLight Cinemas so this is not the first time he is going to work with ArcLight. In fact, it is his reunion with his colleagues at Arc Light like Nora Dashwood, who was the Pacific’s CEO from 2000 to 2015 and is the senior strategic advisor and board member.
ArcLight CEO Christopher Forman said, “I’m thrilled to be reuniting with Ted, an exhibition executive whose deep love of film and understanding of the customer experience will be critical to the future of our brand.”
Major chains are growing and thriving with back to back blockbusters, while the smaller indie cinema houses are struggling to fare well and are struggling for a while now.
