Lionel Messi has broken the record of Pele considered as the greatest of all time in football. The record for 643 gools stood for a whopping time period of 46 years before it was broken by Lionel Messi.
In his recently played match which was won 3-0 against the Real Valladolid, Messi successfully registered his 644th goal, thereby, beating the prior record and adding another feather to his cap.
Last week, the record was equalled and finally this week history was created for Messi. It took a total of 17 seasons for Messi to break this record and he played about 749 club games before actually scoring the 644th goal. The first goal that he scored was in the year 2005 for Barcelona and he started his career in the year 2004.
Messi was at his absolute best in between the years 2009-2015 where in he played more than 320 matches and managed to score 322 goals which today have helped him to reach this almost impossible feat. He is believed to have redefined the entire art of playing football during this period and he is without a doubt the best in the business.
In the years 2011-2012 alone, Messi managed a whopping 73 goals and when compared to Pete, he managed to score 66 goals in his most productive season that was in the years of 1957-1958.
Messi as a player has always used his left foot and it has worked wonders for him, out of his total of 644 gaols, 531 was scored making use of the left foot.
Lionel Messi reacted to his achievement by saying that when he entered the flied of football and started playing, he never for once expected that he would break a record and especially this record held by Pele.
The world is also as shocked as Messi himself as users around the world are tweeting in support of Messi where Gary Linekar also tweeted that this was a record that no thought could ever be beaten and it is his belief that it would never be broken again.
