Eating Yoghurt May Help Treat Depression, Study Says

Recently, a team of researchers from the University of Virginia School of Medicine has revealed the perfect breakfast that can help beat depression and that is YOGURT! A study published in the journal Scientific Reports proposes that this probiotic may also help fight depression.  Yogurt is healthy that stops you from getting spoiled in harmful and junk foods. With different  kinds of nutrients, Youghurt is probiotic for breakfast.

Author Assistant Professor Alban Gaultier stated in the study that the treatments available for relieving the symptoms of depression are not very good as they come with numerous side effects. So, it is important to have another effective alternative treatment.

For the study, the researchers exposed mice to higher levels of stress until they began to show symptoms of depression. Then they have done a before and after evaluation of the levels of gut bacteria. They found a clear connection between the level of gut bacteria and mental health. The study was held on mice. The researchres observed a clear connection between the level of gut bacteria and mental health.

It was exposed that the level of Lactobacillus (friendly gut bacteria) in the gut influences the level of a blood metabolite called kynurenine, which is linked with the development of depression. When Lactobacillus supplement was added in their diet, they recovered instantly.

Lactobacillus aid to balance the levels of kynurenine in the blood. When the level of Lactobacillus drops in the gut, you begin to see the symptoms of depression. This study is still going on. At present we all know Yogurt is effective in losing weight and treating other seasonal allergies, and now may treat depression.
