The Black Dog in Vauxhall was swamped with fans after realising that this south London pub is named in the title of a track on Taylor Swift’s new 11th album.
The event manager Lily Bottomley had described the fans reaction as “amazing” and “overwhelmingly positive.”
The Black Dog is the 17th song in the album The Tortured Poets Department, which was trending and was the most streamed album in a single day which is how it broke the Spotify’s record last week.
It has also been reported that Swift had also visited the pub herself and also that the place is now selling Swift themed burgers and cocktails.
“We’re just loving it, it’s been so fun. All of the attention has been pretty overwhelming but we can’t be happier.” Ms. Bottomley said.
The lyrics which mention the name come in the first verse of the song which goes like, “And so I watch as you walk – into some bar called The Black Dog – and pierce new holes in my heart.”
Taylor Swift, who has four Album of the Year Grammy awards, sings these lyrics as she spots her ex who had forgotten to turn off his location sharing and going to the venue.
“The Black Dog is a beautiful neighbourhood pub.” Ms. Bottomley said when asked, “It’s really small and really cosy so I can imagine the neighbourhood feel, the community, would appeal to her. Obviously, being as famous as she is [it’s] maybe a nice break.”
“We’ve had [the album] non-stop in the pub. We have had singalongs from fans. It’s been amazing.” She added.
