Yahoo, which is a news platform used by thousands of people worldwide has recently known to have acquired Artifact which is an AI driven news aggregation and discovery platform that was created by Instagram cofounders.
In the former years, the platform has unfortunately faced some loss against Google and other competitors when it is concerned with searching and for information and news.
Statista in January this very year had reported that Yahoo! Had represented around 1.1% of the global search market all across the various devices. And according to Yahoo’s announcement, Artifact, which was founded by Kevin Systrom alongside Mike Krieger, will no longer stay as an individual application. It is said to be working as a proprietary AI powered personalisation technology which will later include more features which are integrated across Yahoo, which includes the Yahoo News App, in the next few months.
This is said to be beneficial as Yahoo has a huge base of news readers and Artifact has repeatedly failed to get the required and expected attention. Yahoo is anticipated to assist the co-founder scale Artifact by providing the most relevant stories, curated news and content experiences to the users through AI to many users globally.
”Yahoo was one of the first to combine human and algorithmic curation of news. Since then, the landscape of machine learning and personalisation has changed dramatically and Artifact has innovated with best-in-class technology to meet the moment,” claimed Kat Downs Mulder who is a SVP and the General Manager of Yahoo News.
“Artifact has become a beloved product and we’re thrilled to be able to continue to grow that technology and further our mission of becoming the trusted guide to digital information and the best curator connecting people to the content that matters most to them,” Mulder further added to the statement.
