The call for the most awaited fashion event of the year has been taken and it has been decided that for the year 2021, the London Fashion Week will take place on a digital platform.
The British Fashion Council has officially announced that the event is to take place from 19th to 23rd of February in a digital mode. The week has also been cut short to better facilitate the demands of the online platform.
This year the schedule will include a total of 95 designers. Out of them, 34 are brands catering to only women, 22 for men alone and 29 which are blended, that is offering clothing for both men and women, whereas 10 brands will solely have their focus on accessories.
This year another exciting feature has been added to the London Fashion Week, that is the “Open for Wholesale” feature. This new addition will allow the brands to make hefty investments and place orders digitally in wholesale via Joor, which is an effective online channel.
Another addition for the London Fashion Week is the partnership with the Tokyo Fashion Award wherein all the winners of the year 2020 will be showcased on the platform of the London Fashion Week.
This year the DiscoveryLAB facilitated under the London Fashion Week itself will also go digital. The DiscoverLAB is a platform that has been started in order to give boost to those designers who do not meet the selection criteria as of now but are emerging and just need a boost.
The DiscoveryLAB will be running simultaneously with the London Fashion Week itself where for 3 days, there will be 10 minutes allotted to these designers for showcasing their talent and potential. In total, there will be 12 slots reserved for the purpose of these DiscoveryLABs.
The British Fashion Council will also be hosting a podcast that will cover all the relevant issues in fashion and will be looking upon the positive changes, diversity, use of technology, effort upon sustainability, education under fashion, inculcation of cultural influences by the designers and so on.
